Let's not forget the promise of automatic updates on the Wii via WiiConnect24, which never actually came to fruition. We'll see just how "automatic" these updates are...

Plus the DSi never got updates, so I bet this update coming up soon for the 3DS will be the last one for... several years. -.-

    They won't be automatic.

This update will have a follower in the summer, which will add Netflix.

From everything I can gather, this update will incorporate 3D video recording, some sort of online messaging system (some sources mention video chat, but I think this is rather far fetched), the eShop, some patches, and perhaps some other small things. It might incorporate a few more amazing features, but it might not. We'll know in under 20 days, if we make it past the 21st.

How is it far fetched? Pokemon Black and White already let you do video chat with your DSi/3DS.
Always willing to help with anything, code-related or not. :]

I guess if I would've played Pokemon Black long enough instead of quitting after my Snivy got to level 10 I would've knew that XD.
If that is the case, the 3DS will most likely make some sort of video chatting app similar to ooVoo or Skype perhaps?

Video recording would be nice if not only you could record yourself, but also somehow attach the camera to the current game your playing and make
    short videos with it..

If I were Nintendo and I had my smart cap on I would make the video chat be Skype then people might actually use it rather than something like Pictochat which is fun until you get a game :P

It's not going to be skype. Microsoft just bought Skype.

I'd be perfectly happy with any video chat.
