Thread: Removing Write Protection on an SD Card

Default Removing Write Protection on an SD Card

Ok, so I'm trying to add stuff to my Acekard 2.1 with the SD Adapter and so far when I'm trying to drag anything/delete anything from the folder I get this weird message >_>:

    Code:
    The disk is write-protected.

Remove the write-protection or use another disk
I tried moving the switch upward since it says this on the SD Adapter: Lock [with a arrow facing down] and assuming the arrowing facing up means Unlock. I then moved the switch up and still no luck.. :/

    Could anyone possibly help me?

Try the same disc in another port?

There is only one port for SD/Mini Reader on my HP Pavillion. I only have one disc...

yeah reformat it or use the USB reader that came with the Acecard instead of sticking it in that and using the SD card's reader. Just use the micro sd reader

use the micro sd adapter that came with it. One of them may look like this. (It is not the one that came with the Acekard though)

Most readers will slide the lock switch into the lock position most of the time. (that goes for most older ones)

The best solution I've seen, which it may or may not work, is to put tape around the switch. <- No joke.

My friend actually had an issue where the disk was NOT write protected, but Vista insisted that it was. Pop it in any other computer and it worked, but we couldn't get it to do anything there... He ended up using a different card reader, and it worked fine.

I'll just waste more money on a new Card Reader and I think that site was a rip-off because sadly, I didnt receive a USB Adapter like that. :/
