Need help with an Animal Crossing: City Folk code.

I need help with the Text to Item code.
Whenever i text the hex code of an item and send it and press Plus+Z+C
and go to check my pockets my game freezes. Help anyone?

For those who dont know how to use this you type the hex of the item you want to have in slot 1 of your inventory (Yes, it overwrites what is there currently) So if I type 9010 then send it I will have a cherry in the first inventory slot.
Press Plus + Z + C after you send the message

i want a Dace, the hex is 9AFC
but when i do the cherry hex it works fine.
