How much money do you need to keep the site running?

We have monthly server bills to pay. They're payed entirely out of the donations.

Just found the ChipIn module on your frontpage that says that you need $100 a month...
well, why?
even heavily visited gameservers with over 10TB traffic a month cost less (80-90$)

That's why I'm asking because 10-20$ seems more natural to me.
(as comparison for just a hostingprovider that offers quite alot: http://servage.net/ for just ~8EUR a month)

We host our own irc server, ventrilo server, and website. We don't pay a host. We pay for our own private server to host everything we need. It gets a little pricey.

haha we do make sure that the money goes to the site and not for personal use, like said before the vps is monthly, vBulletin (payment coming up i assume..) is yearly(i think?...depends) i think I dunno about ventrillo. But I do believe the most expensive thing would be vB.

vb is pretty expensive thats for sure... but yeah overall this site needs a certain amount of money to keep it running.

vbulletin coast 60+ a year, so we get about 10ish $ after paying for the box each month.
