Thread: "Hacked" DLC - the New Plan (comments please)

  1. #61

Default Please don't bring the DLC-hate over here

NOTE: This board is for game hacks.
This is probably the worst place to come if you want to play your game 'kosher' ;-?
BTW: You are buying your food from a rodent, in a town occupied by pigs - I don't think anything in the game is truely 'kosher' ;->

Much of what you ask is a retelling of the fear-uncertainty-and-doubt made up by DLC haters on the other boards. Much of what they are telling you are lies, or if not outright lies, crazy speculation on problems that may occur.
This is the kind of stuff that has been scaring the regular players. If you believe hacking 'ruins' the game then they may have gotten to you already...
    ----
Please do not continue this unintelligent dialog here. Sitting around thinking up different ways to break the game is a waste of our time. The DLC haters have done enough of that already.

For WiiBrew users, backup your town and make it safe from any potential damage.
If you have opinions on the New Plan for how DLC will be created, please add them here.
    =======
As mentioned, one of the most popular boards (ACC) has banned discussion of this topic. They want to ignore it like it doesn't exist, and that is their right. They have mostly been a hacker unfriendly board.

For a "to hack v. not to hack" discussion, instead I recommend the gamespot/gamefaq forums.
They are a little more hacker friendly, and have a pretty good Hacked DLC FAQ sticked at the top. Please read it.

It is more-or-less accurate. It does include speculation on potential problems (which won't occur if everyone follows the 'New Plan').

Thanks for the link. And sorry for the derailing. I found everything I wanted to know in that FAQ.
I now have a clear idea of what's happening.
Sorry again for interrupting the topic. I will surely try to contribute my ideas for the Plan.
    Regards.

    Limewire is you're friend?

About using USB Gecko, when will the next version without using it be out? :/

Limewire is your friend if you want 3DMAX to bring it's friends, the virus's. =P

I don't think it would be out for a while after the one requiring USB Gecko is released. I'm really debating if I should just spend the cash on a USB Gecko or not. The lowest price I've seen is about $38, is there another one cheaper somewhere that I just haven't found?

Pirating software is bad - whether it's the game, or a tool for creating the game.
(anyway, 3DMAX is also overkill for what we need anyway)

re: release date for ITEM_Tool (first version)
No planned date. More work is needed.
IMHO: The USB Gecko is relatively cheap, $45 USD retail (cheaper than the game disc), but if you don't already have it or weren't already planning on getting one I would wait. Later versions will work with gamesave editing. Also the USB Gecko is most valuable in the first parts of creating/modding an item.

Ah well I think I'm screwed neither one of us has a USB Gecko -_-

I too will be anxiously awaiting the non-usb gecko tool. I'm artistic and creative and of course bored. I'd love to be a part of this breakthrough.
    Everywhere at once.

Seems like a great idea. One question though. What happens if DLC is released using a spot that hacked DLC already covers? Does the official DLC overwrite the hacked or vice versa?

Good idea but when will you start putting DLC to vote for them?

DSpet I have been hearing things lately but I am pretty sure they know nothing pertaining to the hacked DLC. Is it true it disables us from being able to download official DLC from our region legitimately? Also, have there been any side effects? I have noticed my game disc has been scanning louder than usual since I installed the Hacked DLC. Is that true?
