"Nintendo DSi W" - white furniture item (released April 09) - item code $C848
"Nintendo DSi B" - black furniture item (released April 09) - item code $C854
$C850 is missing (item codes are multiples of 4). It was obvious that they planned the colors ahead of time.
FWIW: I suspect the new DLC from Nintendo were created a long time ago. "HDLC" are truely new based on input from real users.

Please take any of the existing items (built in or DLC), and mutate it into something new. We need something better than re-colored rehash.

Good observation. The Nintendo DLC items are all over the map.
The technology is cool, but the items are lame.
