I actually think its a nice feature virus (easier to fill a row of acres then...) maybe just allow something to enable/disable?.. though I know its more work..

Actually wouldn't be too hard (as I think it's a default grid feature).

It should be out within a week or so (hopefully this weekend). I haven't looked into the catalog stuff yet, so I can't say if that will be in the next release or not.
