Is it possible to be ban from wifi?

does anyone know if its possible to be bann from wifi if so can u tell me what happen?

i try to open my gate on animal crossing and it gives me an error code saying unable to connect to internet and i have check my wireless connections plenty of times and it says everything is working fine the connection tests dont fail but as soo as i try to open my gate it says unable to connect to internet.

I've seen a couple of threads on other sites saying they were having trouble with Wi-Fi today. I'll check to see if I can.
