-Mango, the left most color on the color pallet is "sometimes" transparent, but that's all i know.

I had the same problem one time (i.e. want to choose a different color palette for a different type of animal). What I did was to start with all the bmp files and palette file from the type of animal with the right color
and then used MS Paint to move/copy the content of each bmp file (excluding the bottom part of the texture where it shows the color palette) from the type of animal that I wanted to have.
So at the end, you will have all bmp files for the type animal that you want with the right choice of color palette (and make sure to replace
the palette file as well).
