Great plan DSPet :) and can't wait for Item_too :D
Could somebody do a furniture where you can swim, as the item corn plant(you can cross it, and only see your head. I don't know the name...)?
Do you say this item?
http://i33.tinypic.com/23ubxps.jpg
Yes, that's the item.
There are also a few other items like that with water in them.
But I say an item where you can swim (get into the water)
It's enought. Because It make a fake impresion, no?
Wow, I want to do it, but it is very difficult, no?
I know, I saw that too >_>
that's even better though. If they had all that commotion over the first few hacked items, imagine what it'd be like each month when a new hacked one is released. The ACC website would literally be ruined, there would be billions of threads asking for the hacked items.
Illegally modded >_> lol fail... Anyways.... Stay on topic ;)
So, just a question.
Say I don't want any of these new DLCs created by this community, and want to keep my game "kosher" without the need to use any hack. And I want to keep WC24 on. Is there a way to prevent this content from getting to my game?
When a new DLC is released it will spread over WC24 like a virus and will take up a slot on the inventory, blocking it from further use (if you don't use external tools,) right?
As long as someone has the new item in his/her inventory, it will be then passed to his/her friends, and keep spreading, right? (or I am missing something?)
So, is turning WiiConnect24 off the only way to prevent such DLC to reach your saved game?
Say Nintento release a new DLC that has the same code as one made by the community, what exactly may happen to people who have the item on their Wii? (and who don't use any sort of mod tools, or have no idea how to use them.)
I mean, I respect the will of other people to modify the game as they wish, I don't really care, it's their game, not mine. But the people who wants to play it like Nintendo suggest must be respected too. If they don't want to hack or modify their games, they have the right to do so.
But with DLC, they will get the items inadvertedly on their inventory, either they like it or not, right?
So, if I'm understanding it right, they will, in a way, be forced to get the items, or turn WC24 off and limit their gaming possibilities.
If I understood things wrong, I'd really like to have it explained to me, if you don't mind. And I apologize if what I said offended anybody here.
Regards.
The hacked DLC isn't spread via WC24. It has to be manually handed out (by going to other towns etc)
So in other words, you can only get the hacked items by visiting someone who has the hacked items, or by having them go to your town.
I guess I'm not perfectly clear on one matter either.
In order for somebody else to have the DLC in their savegame, do they only need to be in the same town as me, do I have to actually drop the items and have them pick them up?
You're making it sound like if you're in a town with a person that has the item it will magically float into your savegame as well.
Let's say you go to someone's town with the hacked item in your inventory. When you arrive, it automatically gets added to their game. They won't have their own, but they'll now be able to see yours. They'll only get their own if you give them one, but it'll get added to their game the instant you enter a town/they come to your town.
Thanks for your answer!
So, if I visit another town, and that person has the hacked item, it gets to my inventory, right? I don't even need to know that person has the item, is that it?
And what happens if someone visits me after I visited that town? Will he/she get the item too?
I know DsPet is trying to minimize conflicts there using the last slots, but you never know. So far DLC is not being used, but that could change. And with so many countries in Europe, the list can get crowded pretty soon.
Also, I'd like to know what happens when there's a conflict, since I've only seen vague references.
I've also heard that Nintendo has measures to prevent future conflicts with DLC. Do any of you have any info about that?
Thanks, really.
I really like what people is doing here, but it will have my support as long as it doesn't bother people who want to play by Nintendo's rules. They have the right to do that, and there's no need to ruin other people's game to be able to do new things with it.
Regards.
Well, as far as I know, according to DsPet, if there is a conflict, the first item you got for that code is the one you keep. Let's say you got the lightsaber for item code ABCD. Then Nintendo releases DLC with the same item code. Well, then you'll keep the lightsaber and your game will ignore Nintendo's item. That may seem bad, but in the future hacked DLC will probably be a lot cooler than Nintendo's :p
NOTE: This board is for game hacks.
This is probably the worst place to come if you want to play your game 'kosher' ;-?
BTW: You are buying your food from a rodent, in a town occupied by pigs - I don't think anything in the game is truely 'kosher' ;->
Much of what you ask is a retelling of the fear-uncertainty-and-doubt made up by DLC haters on the other boards. Much of what they are telling you are lies, or if not outright lies, crazy speculation on problems that may occur.
This is the kind of stuff that has been scaring the regular players. If you believe hacking 'ruins' the game then they may have gotten to you already...
----
Please do not continue this unintelligent dialog here. Sitting around thinking up different ways to break the game is a waste of our time. The DLC haters have done enough of that already.
For WiiBrew users, backup your town and make it safe from any potential damage.
If you have opinions on the New Plan for how DLC will be created, please add them here.
=======
As mentioned, one of the most popular boards (ACC) has banned discussion of this topic. They want to ignore it like it doesn't exist, and that is their right. They have mostly been a hacker unfriendly board.
For a "to hack v. not to hack" discussion, instead I recommend the gamespot/gamefaq forums.
They are a little more hacker friendly, and have a pretty good Hacked DLC FAQ sticked at the top. Please read it.
http://www.gamespot.com/wii/strategy...d=m-1-47735512
It is more-or-less accurate. It does include speculation on potential problems (which won't occur if everyone follows the 'New Plan').
Thanks for the link. And sorry for the derailing. I found everything I wanted to know in that FAQ. :)
I now have a clear idea of what's happening.
Sorry again for interrupting the topic. I will surely try to contribute my ideas for the Plan.
Regards.
Limewire is your friend if you want 3DMAX to bring it's friends, the virus's. =P
I don't think it would be out for a while after the one requiring USB Gecko is released. I'm really debating if I should just spend the cash on a USB Gecko or not. The lowest price I've seen is about $38, is there another one cheaper somewhere that I just haven't found?
Pirating software is bad - whether it's the game, or a tool for creating the game.
(anyway, 3DMAX is also overkill for what we need anyway)
re: release date for ITEM_Tool (first version)
No planned date. More work is needed.
IMHO: The USB Gecko is relatively cheap, $45 USD retail (cheaper than the game disc), but if you don't already have it or weren't already planning on getting one I would wait. Later versions will work with gamesave editing. Also the USB Gecko is most valuable in the first parts of creating/modding an item.
I too will be anxiously awaiting the non-usb gecko tool. I'm artistic and creative and of course bored. I'd love to be a part of this breakthrough.
Seems like a great idea. One question though. What happens if DLC is released using a spot that hacked DLC already covers? Does the official DLC overwrite the hacked or vice versa?
Good idea but when will you start putting DLC to vote for them?
DSpet I have been hearing things lately but I am pretty sure they know nothing pertaining to the hacked DLC. Is it true it disables us from being able to download official DLC from our region legitimately? Also, have there been any side effects? I have noticed my game disc has been scanning louder than usual since I installed the Hacked DLC. Is that true?
re: Hacked DLC and Nintendo DLC overlapping
(from the other thread http://game-hackers.com/forum/showpo...5&postcount=70 )
> What happens when new items are created that are real DLC and we have HDLC taking there slot? Is it easily movable?
Short answer: Yes.
----
Longer answer (since this often comes up). That's on of the hypothetical arguments the "DLC haters" have been throwing around as to why Hacked DLC is bad. It may hypothetically prevent them from getting the really cool DLC items that hypothetically Nintendo is going to release in the future.
Opinion: The track record for "official" Animal Crossing giveaways is not very good (eg: AC:WW infrequent and buggy).
----
The facts:
Nintendo has released 2 DLC items so far (in Japan only). That's less than 1% of the DLC space. You can install them in your game using EZ_DLC_Install if you have WiiBrew.
There are no published plans on if, when and what Nintendo will release next. There is much speculation.
The "New Plan" accounts for the case where Nintendo releases few or no more items, or if they start releasing them at break-neck speed (eg: an item a week).
The 3 hacked DLC items are a little over 1% of the DLC space. They have item codes specially picked to be well outside the regular Nintendo item code area. Also plenty of room to release one a week for a few years.
The chances of an accidental collision are remote.
----
Speculation continues:
Nintendo could *intentionally* overlap the Hacked DLC range. I think that is highly unlikely.
BTW: The DLC haters like saying the Nintendo engineers would do something like that to punish the people who downloaded Hacked DLC. That's insane, a company would never do that for the support costs alone.
But even in this remote scenario, there is a simple fix for WiiBrew users and at least 2 different ways for non-WiiBrew users to get the new DLC.

> I have noticed my game disc has been scanning louder than usual since I installed the Hacked DLC. Is that true?
All the DLC hate has infected the DVD disc ;->
Go back to an earlier backup, and try it again. I suspect any DVD drive noise will be the same regardless of the gamesave data.
BTW: that's one of the cool things about the DLC data (and why it is so flexible), most of it comes from the gamesave and not from the game disc.
Yankeefan802: read around other threads. Your questions have already been explained into detail.
Also, your game disc will not scan louder than usual. lol.
Regarding the Plan...
Wouldn't it be better if a theme is given to the interested people?
I mean, if everybody works without any guide, you can end up having to vote very different items.
Say for example someone has a great idea (because the item is something cool, like some game character or game item) but the actual implementation is so-so. On the other hand you coud have another person who's skills are great, but the items produced are not that cool (maybe a nice rendering of an ordinary item.) It would be difficult to vote for any of those. Should you choose a well made item or a nice idea?
If a theme is given you can see similar items and judge the quality of the model and the skills of the creator.
On example of a theme could be "Models of famous world landmarks", like the Eiffel tower, The Empire state building or the Leaning Tower of Pisa. But a lot of themes could be made up. The Wii has the Mii contests in this line, they give a subject or theme and people create following it. It's easier to evaluate.
Just a thought.
The Bionicle lego action figures have really cool handheld weapons (ick, i hate saying that word).
I have an idea for a DLC item. A Wii!!!. :) This would be awesome! They have a gamecube in the game (in the pink box) and a Wii would be even better:D
A few requests from a topic I made on Gamefaqs:
Shotgun/Wii Zapper: Same function as the slingshot
Moon from Majora's Mask: Based off the Moon item in the game
Banana: To serve as another fruit. I think research would have to be done for this one to work properly though.
Wii Controller and Nunchuk: Same function as the fishing rod
Captain Falcon Helmet: Based off the Zap Helmets
Megaman Helmet: Based off the Zap Helmets
Master Sword: Same function as the axe
Pokemon Dolls: Furniture (Based on dolls in Pokemon)
Waluigi Hat: Based off Bro's Hats
Nintendo Wii: Furniture
ROB: Furniture based off the Robot
Pokeball: Furniture (Possibly work as a net?)
Those are just a few ideas the Gfaqs board came up with. Feel free to comment.
Banana seems pointless IMO.. and honestly you can't make a tree out of it.
I'm interested in hearing Dspet's opinion. After all, he knows better than any of the rest of us.
Please keep with the new ideas for new items.
The tools are getting better, and what you recommend here has a major influence.
I'm still working on tools to do crazy things like rotating, or hula-hooping, or pissing...
The furniture items are lame.
The tool items (things you can hold in your hands that do something) may be the most fun.
> I'm interested in hearing Dspet's opinion.
You probably don't want to hear it ;->
After all the lame DLC haters, I was thinking about a Michael Phelps themed "bubble wand"
Highly inappropriate.
Bottom line: please don't wait for my opinions. Keep the ideas coming.
