Upgraded to Beta 3.
(Oh, and before anyone comments on it...I'm sorry editing is slow. It's the best I can do for now).
Thanks :D I'll try it out in a minute.
ZOMG your narb its so slow D: XD jk nice job :]
Vash, or whoever, can you tell me who/what uses the NPC patterns.
Also, One Suggestion, is a grid toggle, you know, an on/off button for the grid.
my beta 3 is having issues importing and exporting... ive been able to export and i have edited but it wont let me import the edited pattern... but i can export the new pattern to the comp... i get some invalid error upon trying to import.. "access violation at address 004769AA in module "pattview.exe" read of address 00000000"???
Fixed import bug and a small editing bug. Re-released as Beta 3. Anybody who previously downloaded, please re-download.
thanks for the editor Vash =D
alright all better.. it lets me swap everything out.. lemme try putting the save back on and seeing if it works.. any chance we can get a new thread going for pattern trading?
Maybe next release (with screenshot capabilities ;) )
the only way i can get this to work is if i put the patview.exe and patterns and the contents of the accf RUUE folder all into one folder... also the program worked for my patterns and able but the villagers must be labeled diff compared to how they are in the npc editor cuz i made changes comparing the two programs numbers and my poncho's shirt didnt change... although he has a legit accf shirt on now not a pattern if that means anything.. overall the editing and the swapping works well.. thanks for putting time into stuff like this cuz we do appreciate it
edit: yeah i changed jays able pattern shirt to an edited different pattern successfully... but official accf shirts to patterns dont work i guess
The NPC patterns aren't what they're wearing (necessarily).
Very nice Vash. Thanks for this. :)
It imports to the save. If your neighbor isn't wearing a pattern shirt, it's not going to do that for you. It's not designed to do that, I'm afraid.
> If they aren't wearing a pattern it wont show.
BTW: that will be in the next version of NPC_Tool. You can change the shirt to any of the builtin ones, or specify the NPC's personal pattern.
haha once again, dspet, your my hero!
Hehe, well there you go. DsPet solves everything :)
HOLY CRAP!
DsPet is a Member Now!
OMG!
*bows down*
huh? DsPet was a member here since the beginning.
I Never Saw Him

> Hehe, well there you go. DsPet solves everything...
And Vash solved mine. It's a co-dependent feature. I need PattView to edit the NPC patterns to test the NPC_Tool feature...
hey vash could you possibly add the ability to convert images to the .pat format
I was looking at ways that I could do that. It'll be a while before that feature is added. It's going to take quite a bit of work.
when is an updated version of npc_tool coming out?
You'd have to ask DsPet in his topic.
Im not sure if this is a bug or not, but for example. if ur on Player one's 1st pattern and u change the pallete from 16 to 7 and then u click on player ones 2nd patern the pallete number will not automatically go back to the original one from that design. It will stay as 7 to it have been 9 originally. Do u understand?
The current version does not automatically detect the default palette for each pattern.
Ignore This.
hey will you make it so i can rename the pattern and rename the designer?
O ok, i was just making sure if that was a bug or not =]
Good Job man
This is a great start.
I wish Nintendo thought about these things a little more. Nintendo should have added a separate game save for the patterns so we can back it up on an SD card and download a tool provided on Nintendo's site to edit them and then copy it back onto the Wii. Or even a feature at Able's shop where you can ask Mable or Able to import/export the patterns in the player's storage to the SD card.
My question is: Who were the stupid Quality Assurance people that passed the pattern editing? Nintendo should have forced them to draw out a provided pattern to test if using the pointer is as good as they thought it would be or if an alternative is needed (like in the DS where you can use the directional pad instead of the stylus).
Upgraded to version 1.0 Final.
