Awesome, any testing with this and wifi?
Most of the other 3D model tricks don't work over WiFi (did something similar for AC:WW http://www.aibohack.com/nds/ac_cats.htm )
If someone visits your hacked town over WiFi, they see the standard graphics, from their game disc (and their country scheme). Good for taking screen shots and bragging, not much else.
BTW: the view of your town is country specific. For example if a Japanese user visits your English town, they will see everything in Japanese. The signposts will be Japanese, the NPCs will talk Japanese, and even the name of Nook's store will be Japanese (the game disc has country-specific graphics for this).
The exception is the NPCs. That's the big change in AC:CF. Since the NPC textures (and names) are stored in the GAMESAVE, they must be transferred over WiFi to a visitor's Wii when they connect to your town. Visitors see what you see.
Wait, so modified NPCs in this game will go to another person's town with the changed settings? If so, that's cool :D . I'm also wondering, if you changed an NPC for your save file, is that change permanent? What I mean is, I changed Pierce's texture and then he moves out. When I get another Pierce, will he keep the changed settings or will he have his original?
Ya a bunch of people are trying to get my Demon (that is my Mott edit) to move to there town lol. Really loving the editor :).
That's so cool :D . If changes aren't permanent like the example in my other post, I'm gonna turn everyone in my town into custom NPCs.
Is it possible to change a villagers birthday?
I think they are presets to specific dates
> Is it possible to change a villagers birthday?
Yes, and easy to add -- will be in next version.
In AC:CF its part of the NPC data in the gamesave. It was hard coded in the older AC:WW version.
I can't seem to edit wolves... when I click import textures, it says bitmap format not understood.
I used Paint and I can edit with mostly everything else.
> I can't seem to edit wolves... when I click import textures, it says bitmap format not understood.
There is a bug when handling the larger textures (256 or 262 pixels high). Will be fixed in next update (coming soon). Keep your edited BMPs.
I think that's what hit other people. In the mean time, play around with the smaller textures (128 or 134 pixels high), like Cats or Frogs http://www.aibohack.com/wii/accf_npctex.htm
Hello guys,
Someone want to edit Animal Villagers' names for the six other languages before waiting the next version of NPC Tool ?
You can do this with a hexadecimal editor, I have found that for 15 minutes. :D
PS : Sorry if I have a bad English, I'am French.
Your English is fantastic for a second language!
At the moment when I have posted, I found the solution 15 minutes ago.
Also, it's quite rapid if you understand the procedure. I hesitate to make a English tuto for the comprehension. xD
Ok that last sentence made no sense at all lol.
In that case you could probably get the file from DSPet and translate to French
DsPet, would it be possible to add the functionality of editing other NPCs?
Nook, Pelly, Brewster. NPCs that aren't villagers?
.3a update now available (see first post on this thread).
Hilights: all languages supported for names/catchphrases, larger BMPs fixed (ie. custom Wolves!), birthday changable.
The shirt/umbrella and room contents are currently not editable. You will likely get remnants from the original NPC before you started customization. Still researching how the game deals with these values.
The link on the site isn't working :S
It says...

DsPet can you rip and email me Rovers textures (from the loading screen) if not Ill just try to recreate him.
> DsPet can you rip and email me Rovers textures (from the loading screen) if not Ill just try to recreate him.
The "special" NPCs use very different texture mapping.
If interested, here are special models ripped into a similar (but mostly unusable) format:
http://aibohack.com/wii/special_characters.zip
Read the README.TXT for a name guide (eg: SPEC00 is Rover, SPEC01 is Joan, ...)
They require significant editing to work as regular NPCs. You need to make the special textures fit into the size and layout of the "Export Textures".
For example, the Rover model ("SPEC00") is a cat, but has has a totally different body layout than the regular NPC cats (like Moe). The eyes and mouth are totally different (Rover only has half his face/head, but the regular cat model has both sides).
As suggested, you may be better of starting with Moe (or any of the other normal cats), and moving over the colors and artwork from the SPEC?? bitmaps.
That is what I am planning to do DsPet. Thanks for these :).
*EDIT* Ok so I finished my first attempt at Rover and I have to say It looks nice. I messed up on colors slightly and the eyes look kinda pixelated (or at least like squares) but all its a pretty good edit. I am going back to fix some mistakes and try a few things Ill edit with a picture afterwards.
*EDIT* Ok well here is my second version http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...3/RUU_0018.jpg (colors are still a little messed up and eyes are obviously to big up and down wise. (long? lol) Also you notice Moe is a chick so now Rover has chick clothes on, the easy fix for that is just replace the textures with a guy cat.
Each texture is 100% edited with nothing left from Moe what so ever so I actually didn't need to use Moe at all but just did since it was suggested.
Here is version 2 http://www.sendspace.com/file/7bkmp4 download if you like and do w/e :). Ill do a version 3 later with proper purple head color etc. etc. Oh and tell me what you think please.
A thing you could do is make something on you're websight that allows users to upload and download there own custom textures and screen shots of the ending result tho you might need to ask for donations due to bandwith useage
To bad my old domain got closed down for a while I could have just made a sub and hosted there. Ill ask my friend if he will make a sub domain for me.
>...allows users to upload and download there own custom textures and screen shots of the ending result...
I was considering that for a future version. The ability to use one of the popular custom characters as well as the Nintendo provided prototype characters.
There are a few more things needed for a complete custom NPC character (like room contents, shirt design etc). Expect most of it in the next version of NPC_Tool.
Website bandwidth isn't a problem. Increasing awareness is more important (and increasing the number of AC:CF hackers)
NPC editing is relatively new. Right now the best thing IMHO is to increase awareness on high-volume non-hacker BBSs, like:
http://www.animalcrossingcommunity.c...sp?BoardID=152
Brag about how cool hacking is, and how easy it is, show off your new inventions, get the general AC:CF users salivating for new NPCs.
WARNING: don't talk about how to hack on that particular BBS.
If regular Wii users see how cool NPC hacking is, and after they have a few 'hacked' NPCs moving into their towns, who knows...

OT:
> I have a domain but I'm all ready paing $150/mo...
Friendly advice, unless you have an amazing monthly bandwidth (ie. terabytes), or have limited options in your country -- I suggest shopping around.
Is this your new main hobby now that Sony stopped development of AIBO or are you still hacking them and whatnot?
Really $150 a month seems a little high I am sure you could find a very good host for less than that. My friend Alex's site has 5TB of space and pretty high BW for much less than that a year.
Is changing shirts going to be released in the next version? My villagers would look better with matching uniforms...
> Is changing shirts going to be released in the next version?
Canned shirts for sure (one of 346), and umbrellas (one of 34).
Not sure if I'll add limited BMP editing for custom patterns.
BTW: We need a more general 'pattern editor' for all the patterns.
(like Thulinma wrote for AC:WW -- http://www.xs4all.nl/~aviator/acww/)
Do we already have the address for all the patterns?
If they are the same as Wild World it shouldn't be to hard.
>>BTW: We need a more general 'pattern editor' for all the patterns.
> Do we already have the address for all the patterns?
More or less, but more reverse engineering is needed.
The AC:WW textures are ~4x larger than the AC:WW version ($880 bytes each)
If anyone wants to rise TO the challenge, please speak up.Code:GAMESAVE addresses (RVFOREST.DAT)
Player patterns start at: $1160 + $75A0 * P + $880 * N
Where P = 0..3 (0 => player 1), where N = 0..7 (for different uses)
NPC Patterns start at: $234E0 + $3040 * NP1 or $23700 + $3040 * NP2
Where NP1 = 0..9 (0 => NPC01, first 10 NPC slots)
Where NP2 = 10..19 (10 => NPC11, last 10 NPC slots)
Global patterns start at: $5EC80 + $880 * N
Where N = 0..7 (for different uses)
I think that's complete. Some have checksums/CRCs, some do not.
(writing a program may be the easiest part, compatibility with other formats and answering newbie questions may be harder ;-)
The pseudocode doesn't look too bad. I might look into it tomorrow sometime.
DsPet, if you have the time to send me a few saves (that I'll describe in detail once I receive a reply), I'll definitely try to make the pattern editor. I've already started the app, I just need to be able to better interpret the pattern data.
Virus sorry I didn't help yesterday when Maniac was sending me those IMs I haven't slept in over 48 hours and just could not get up the strength to be bothered. Ill work on them later tonight if you wish.
I tested the NPC tool, I changed Miranda into uh Bunnie, but the name remained miranda. So I got a Bunnie called Miranda.
