Yeah, I just don't think Nintendo is going to let any unauthorized software. On the Wii they send little messages about updates, but with SpotPass now they can update whenever you're connected to the Internet.
Google Chrome has a similar feature... I don't like it :S
Let's not forget the promise of automatic updates on the Wii via WiiConnect24, which never actually came to fruition. We'll see just how "automatic" these updates are...
