FWIW: This infrequently happens to me. To fix it, put the DVD in the drive and the SD card in the Wii *before* turning on the Wii power.
[if using the Install approach, I find it quicker to unplug the power cord between test runs; which also ensures the Wii starts with a clean slate]
I get the same error, i tried your method and i still can seem to get it to work.

Re download the installer, see if it works then, also what firmware are you on?

I'm on Firmware 4.0. Didn't think it would hurt my Homebrew, since what I read only affected the DVDx channel, which I did install...Should I downgrade to a different version?

Fvn, you can get it here:

I'm going to try to reinstall it now...

Well, after I reinstalled it, I realized that it probably wasn't the program that was wrong. If you look in your folder with your RVFOREST.dat file, there should be other files, including a video file. If there isn't, that might make it so it doesn't work. Just go extract your current town (you'll get the movie files, and that stuff then), and then replace the town data with the TESTTOWN data. It should work then.

Also, I see now why you should only test one HDLC at a time. I tried to test a Green Pikmin Hat, and a Green Lightsabre at the same time, and the hat appeared in my hands, xD.
