You don't HAVE to use the test town, but there are a lot of reasons you should. But I really don't see why you'd have to use your town, taking them on Wifi will only cause trouble to those who shelter themselves from the "virus". But yes, you can, but if you had previous edits of the original item in your closet, and you go to your closet, the game will crash. I THINK that's why...
    And your opinion matters?

    ^what he said.
Nobody said you have to use it.

There are many assumptions and your current town may cause you troubles. That's why I made TESTTOWN (sanitized gamesave, no WiFi hassles, very separate DLC, Player #4 not used, ...).
BTW: The most common problem is having a DLC hat on your head - and the game will likely wedge
FWIW: I've done that a lot in earlier testing.

If you are using the gamesave approach, there is no reason to use your own town.
If you have a USB Gecko, then using your own game can save you a minute or two of time. If you want, try it. If it doesn't work, then please go back to TESTTOWN.
(there is nothing magical in the gamesave. All the magic is in the runtime patch)
Bottom line: this game is very complex -- your own gamesave may or may not work.

Compared to the gamesave approach, the USB Gecko wins hands down. Whether you start from TESTTOWN or your own town.
You save a few minutes every time you try a new version of your artwork. That can add up quickly.

If one retailer doesn't have it in stock, please check another (http://www.usbgecko.com/order.htm )

It would be quite interesting to see this edited to have a globe on top...

    (thread de-stickied)
FYI: the Item Tool editing tools have been discontinued for the time being.
I may bring them back when there are more interesting things to edit.

Thanks to everyone who tried the tools. Some of the customized masks may appear in an upcoming EZ_DLC_Install release (new OHDLC). Please don't ask when.
In the mean time, If you have the alpha release tools and still are using them, please email me any new items you come up with. Thanks

aw man. Most of the items that you provided have been deleted along with a few other things on my PC. (Due to a bad program I download off of the interwebs... a horrible program 0_0)

Though the bright side is, I'm finally getting USB Gecko.

    > can u make a master sword axe (?)
Nintendo has a master sword model (for furniture). It is too big for DLC and it is missing a tip.
It will appear with the newer 3D model technology with a less complex 3D model (after spinning poke-balls, and maybe floating balloon-like poke-balls)

    > or a baseball bat axe?
    That is a simpler model.

Please try the MilkShape3D program ( http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch ; free for 30days, cheap to register after that if you like it).
Make up a simple 3D model for a baseball bat, and a simple texture. If it looks good in MilkShape3D, then it may look good in Animal Crossing.
