Question Do I need to update to play Super Mario Bros?

I'm sorry if I'm not posting in the right place, so please direct me if this has been answered already. I have the new super mario bros. and I tried to play, popped in the disc, and noticed it wanted to update my system. I hacked my wii awhile back, and i'm still on the 4.0u. Can I still play the game and not update? If I have to update, what steps should I take to ensure that I keep everything? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I believe if you updated ur homebrew browser to i think 1.0.6 you should be ok with updating your menu. I have the 1.0.6 Homebrew Broweser and the 4.4(or whatever the latest Wii Menu version is)Wii Menu and they both work perfectly

thanks for your replies. So I'll update my homebrew and then play the game through Gecko? Or should i update homebrew and then also run nintendo's system update and then play through Gecko? Will nintendo's system update delete homebrew? Or worst cast - brick my wii? I'm just wanting to be 100% sure before I do anything.

Technically dont need to update homebrew at all. Just run it through Gecko OS.

For anyone who had my same question, I ran the game through Gecko and it worked just fine! Thanks for the help.

You could use StartPatch and patch Block Disc Updates so it will never show that it has to update again.
