Thread: AnimalMap on the DSi?

  1. #1

    Default AnimalMap on the DSi?

Would it be possible to use AnimalMap on the DSi (when its hacked), or is it too early too tell?

I used Animal Map with ARDS before my regular ds died AND it won't work with the DSi...

Animal Map (the Windows program) works best with the "AR MAX / DUO" hardware
    http://www.aibohack.com/nds/which_ar.jpg

AFAIK: it should work perfectly with the DSi. When connected to the PC, it uses the console only for power using the bottom/GBA slot (even a GBA console will work). When running the game, it is a legit unhacked DS cartridge running in the top slot.
    BTW: still available on eBay.

The "AR DS" hardware works poorly with Animal Map IMHO.
As you point out, it doesn't work with the DSi hardware, yet. I suspect it will in the future.

If looking for the best combination for AC:WW, I still recommend the "AR MAX/DUO" hardware
(or a homebrew solution that can do full 'gamesave's not just 'cheat codes')

    Thanks DSPet! =)
If I understand correctly the "AR MAX / DUO" will work with the DSi?

If so I will order it off ebay. =D

From what I understand, the Duo uses a gba slot as well..
Don't argue with stupid people. They only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yes, the Duo uses a gba slot... and I do believe the DSi has no gba slot.

Say what you mean, mean what you say, and let your actions speak for you.

DsPet's point was that the Duo only requires the GBA slot for the console's power. Not specifically the GBA slot from the DS. I think he mentioned that you could actually use an old GBA system and it would still work.

    Other advice:
Try plugging the AR MAX/DUO in your old (broken) DS console. If the power is still running it may work.
You can probably find a cheap GBA console at your local used game store (or eBay). These days a used 1st generation DS is just as cheap.

(BTW: there was a stand along GameShark product, but you can't find it anywhere)
