Thread: NPC_Tool - Animal Villager Customization

  1. #1

Default NPC_Tool - Animal Villager Customization

    More info here: http://aibohack.com/wii/npc_tool.htm

    Features:
+ Change the character type (one of 210 canned characters, a "prototype").
+ Change the personality (3 male types, 3 female types).
+ Change name and catchphrase (all languages)
    + Change NPC's birthday
+ Change shirt, umbrella. Custom shirt patterns optional (use PattView to edit).
+ Change room contents (wallpaper, flooring, simple room contents, music).
    + Change some advanced settings.

+ Change the "texture map" bitmap to invent brand new characters, or mutilate the existing ones ;->

Please read the caveats on the webpage. If having problems with Bitmaps (Import Textures), please send me an example.
Eventually some of the core features may move into the official ACToolkit by Virus, but that's up to him.
    -------
The current version is .4b beta

TODO: (a list of possible future features)
    - moving NPC tutorial
    - support Twiggy properly
    - maybe much later: relationships with human visitors (catchphrases etc) like the old AC:WW tool

Using MS Paint, Windows XP SP2, the tool still dislikes the images... I'm following the palette and saving as a "16 Color Bitmap", the default. I've also tried every possible combination in Photoshop CS4 (saving as indexed, RBG, choosing Windows or OS/2, etc.)

Any idea what might be going on?

Even if I open a fresh save (no textures messed with), export them, open one in Paint and add one dot that's in the palette, save with default settings, and try to import... I get an error about the format being incorrect, and to please use Paint.

(I'm using the same, SP3 but that shouldn't matter)
Please email a sample .BMP ([email protected]). The BMP read code is very simple in the current version. It could be made more flexible.

Excellent tool, easy to use, only problem i can see is it says that personalities will be changed when you load a villagers template but this doesn't seem to be the case, like if i were to load iggly into a slot that would have originally been a girl neighbor, the outcome would be a female iggly with the same personality of the original neighbor, when iggly is supposed to be male. So is this just something that needs to be worked on at the moment or have i done something wrong?
